SACHS started out as a partnership between Ernst Sachs and Karl Fichtel to produce bicycle hubs and ball bearings. Then in 1897, the company introduced the freewheel for bicycles. By the time Fichtel died the company had over 7000 employees and in 1923, the partnership was switched to a stock cooperation with the ball bearing division sold to SKF, which was a Swedish ball bearing manufacturer but with the manufacturing remaining with Schweinfurt. Fast forward to 2001 and the company was renamed to ZF Sachs AG. ZF was to focus on automobile parts for the chassis and drivetrains. Today, the company has over 17000 employees and exists in 19 countries with a 2.1 billion euros in sales volume. SACHS parts are renowned for being durable and carefully engineered.
While almost all SACHS car parts are popular owing to the company’s credibility, it is their drive train and engine parts that seem to be the most popular.
