BARUM is one of the leading manufacturers of tyre and disc brake parts based in the Czech Republic. The company was created as mainly a subsidiary of Bata Shoes, which specialized in manufacturing and selling high-quality rubber-soled shoes in the country. The ever growing cost of a rail trip motivated Bata to run its own fleet of vehicles and by 1934, the company started importing tyres for its own fleet of vehicles. However, the company later decided it could do a better job by manufacturing their own tires. By 1945 the three largest rubber producing companies were merged soon after which the Bata family lost control of the company, and BARUM took its place. Most BARUM parts are manufactured in its facility in Otrokovice which was built in 1966. The following year the company introduced its first tubeless or radial tyres.
Even though BARUM is responsible for manufacturing and selling an array of aftermarket parts their disc brakes are still the most popular in the UK. The reason being that BARUM’s car parts are made from the highest quality with their disc brakes being the oldest parts sold in the UK. However, there is a growing demand for other BARUM parts too.
