Take care of your water pump

Vehicles all have a water pump that circulates water around the engine to keep it cool. Without these pumps the engine would get way too hot and eventually overheat. Engine overheating is the leading cause of engine failure and this is the reason why making sure you replace water, and replace water pumps on a regular basis is critically important. Often when the timing belt on a vehicle is changed, the pumps will need replacing at the same time.

The water pump cycle

When the vehicle is due for its cambelt service, this is usually the time when the pump is changed. Both modern and classic cars make use of these pumps to stop overheating in the engine. When a water pump fails, water will often pour out alongside the engine and at this stage it will definitely be necessary to fit new pumps. The water pump keeps cool

The primary job of the cooling system is to keep the engine from overheating. It does this by transferring heat to the air. Another important function of the cooling system is to allow the engine to heat up as quickly as possible and then maintain a constant temperature. A water pump will often begin to make a noise if it is about to fail so always listen out for sounds coming from the engine coupled with water leakage. Pumps are necessary for the continued cooling of the engine in vehicles and without these components the engine would not be able to dissipate the heat caused by the moving parts of the engine that heat up due to friction.
