What is a vehicle ignition system?

The ignition system is what gets your vehicle started. In general, a combustion engine uses a spark to ignite the fuel within the engine to get it going. The fuel air mixture then continues to power the vehicle. However, igniting the fuel requires an elaborate system mainly consisting of spark plugs, ignition coils, battery, a control unit (in modern cars), and the key switch. It goes without saying that even some of the best ignition systems can fail with time. Fortunately, getting the system fixed and faulty parts replaced is easier compared to other types of repairs.

How to know that your ignition system is failing?

There are a number of signs that point to your ignition system failing. One of the most common ones being that your car is unable to start. You may also notice that your car takes unusually longer to start. Some modern vehicles use a series of sensors to determine if there is a problem with the ignition system. If a problem is detected it points out the faulty part and refuses to start unless that part is replaced. This can especially be the case with the latest BMWs, Mercedes and Toyota cars.
