What are car radiators?

A car’s radiator is part of the vehicle’s engine cooling system. The vast majority of car radiators have a mounted fan which cools the water or coolant that passes through it. The radiator receives the hot water from the engine, usually from one end which cools it down and passes it back to the other end to the engine. The objective is to ensure that engine does not overheat and in most modern cars the engine needs to run a certain temperature for optimal performance and long life. So, a failing radiator can end up causing problems with the engine.

How to know something is wrong?

You will know that something is wrong with the radiator when the car starts to overheat. Though overheating can be attributed to other factors too such as low or no oil, in most cases it is a faulty radiator. So, if you see that the engine’s temperature goes beyond the center point of the gauge frequently it’s time to take the car to a certified mechanic to get the radiator, and associated parts examined. Fortunately, getting the radiator replaced is not very expensive in most vehicles.
