Coolant Circulation Flanges in Cars

All modern vehicles have a coolant circulation flange that, over time, can become the source of coolant leaks. Replacement of this flange is not difficult and the part is generally not expensive to purchase. The flange supplies coolant to other parts of the car’s engine and in some cases has a coolant temperature sensor built into it. This circulation flange is connected to hoses that supply the coolant to the engine and these hoses can become brittle and crack, leading to the loss of coolant from the car. The heat-hardened parts of the flange are where the leaks usually occur. If leaks are noticed at the flange it is a good idea to replace this part.

When the Coolant Circulation Flange Breaks

When replacing the coolant flange, it is always advisable to replace the hoses that it attaches to, as there is a good chance they will also have deteriorated. Ensure that you input the correct year model, make and engine size of your vehicle handy so that the correct part can be delivered to your desired address. Coolant circulation flanges differ from vehicle to vehicle.

Why is the Coolant Circulation Flange Important?

This is an important part of any car as it allows coolant to flow freely throughout the car’s engine. What coolant does in a car’s engine is to absorb approximately one-third of the heat derived from the engine. In doing so, coolant plays the important role of reducing engine heat and consequently reducing wear and tear. This is why it is important for the entire cooling system, including the coolant flange, to be working properly. Keeping your car’s engine running smoothly by looking after the individual parts such as the coolant flange is one of the simplest ways to increase the longevity of the vehicle.
